Fast is not an opinion: it is a threshold

Google publishes three page experience measurements and says out loud where the bar sits for each: the main content should appear in 2.5 seconds or less, the page should answer a tap in 200 milliseconds or less, and what is already on screen should not shift more than 0.1 while the rest loads. Below those three numbers the experience counts as good. It is a public, measurable standard, so nobody here has to be taken on trust: it gets measured and shown.

Most small websites miss it, and almost always for the same reason: they are built on a bought template plus a dozen add-ons, each with its own stylesheet, its own script and its own tracker. We publish pages made for that business, without that weight on top.

The padlock is not an extra

The secure connection is there from day one and the certificate renews itself. It is not an optional upgrade: browsers flag as not secure any page that asks for data without it, and Google lists the secure connection among the page experience signals it documents publicly. A contact form without a padlock scares people off before anyone reads it.

Up on Sunday afternoon too

We are not going to promise you an uptime percentage with two decimal places, because those numbers write themselves in any brochure. What we do is watch that the site answers and find out before you do when it stops. When something falls over, the difference between a scare and a problem is who notices first.

What actually weighs: the photos

Nearly every time a website drags, the images are to blame. A photo straight off a phone weighs several megabytes and will be shown at under a thousand pixels wide: twenty times more is being sent than needed. Every image we upload is cropped and compressed to the size it will actually be seen at, and that shows up in one thing — the page opens — and in another that matters more: it opens on mobile data at two in the afternoon.
