What your website includes
The profile people see before they see your website.
When somebody looks your business up, the first thing they get is not your site: it is your profile, with hours, phone, photos and reviews. We leave it verified and current.
The Google profile — the panel about the business that appears in search and on Maps — is created, verified and kept up to date with the categories, opening hours, photos and contact details matching those on the website, which is what Google asks for in order to show and rank it.

They have decided before they reach your website
Think about how you look for somewhere to eat, or a garage to check a noise: you pull out your phone, type two words, and what fills half the screen is a profile. Hours, phone number, how to get there, photos and stars. Plenty of the calls a local business receives never pass through its website at all, because the visitor already had enough.
So a website without a well kept profile is half a website. And a profile showing different hours from the ones on the door is worse than none: whoever turns up at a closed shop does not try again.
Verified, because otherwise it does not count
Google requires you to verify that the business is yours before it lets you manage the profile, and it publishes guidelines for representing your business that are worth reading before filling anything in: the name has to be the real one and not the name with three keywords after it, the category has to describe what you are rather than everything you do, and the address has to be somewhere you genuinely serve people.
What Google looks at when deciding who to show
There is no need to guess: Google publishes it. There are three factors, and it helps to know which can be worked on and which cannot:
- Relevance. How well your profile matches what was searched for. Workable: correct categories, services described, complete information.
- Distance. How far you are from whoever is searching. Not workable, and anyone who says otherwise is selling smoke.
- Prominence. How well known your business is, online and off: mentions, links, articles, reviews. Slow to build, and it is what separates two garages on the same street.
Opening hours, which is what annoys people most
Everybody fills in the ordinary hours. What almost nobody maintains is bank holidays, summer hours and the closure for holidays — precisely the days when someone walks to your door trusting what they read. Special hours can be scheduled in advance, and that is part of the maintenance: you tell us «we are closed from the 8th to the 22nd of August» and it goes on the profile and the website at once.
Reviews: answer them all, buy none
Reviews are the shop window you do not control, which is why they matter. The rule is simple: ask the happy customer while they are still happy, answer every one — the good ones in two lines and the bad ones without arguing — and never, ever buy them. Google’s guidelines forbid fake and incentivised reviews, and a profile flagged for that loses far more than it gained.
What we do about it
Part of the maintenance: you never have to ask, and it is never billed apart.
- Creation and verification We create the profile or claim the one that already exists, and verify it.
- Categories and services The primary category that genuinely describes you and the secondary ones that help.
- Hours, holidays and closures Special hours too, scheduled before they arrive.
- Photos that look right Of the premises, the team and what you sell, at the size Google shows.
- Details matching the website Same name, same address and same phone on the profile and on the site.
- Reviews attended to We flag new ones and help you answer, above all the awkward ones.
And this you change with one sentence
You write what you want changed and we publish it.
We are closed from the 8th to the 22nd of August
Set as special hours on the profile and announced on the website.
We have changed the phone number
Changed on the profile, on the site, in the form and on the call button.
Someone has left us a bad review
We tell you the same day and suggest a calm reply before anyone answers in the heat of it.
Frequently asked questions
I already have a profile but I do not know who controls it
It happens constantly: an employee who left set it up, or Google generated it on its own. Ownership can be claimed, and it is one of the first things we check.
Can a bad review be deleted?
Only if it breaks Google’s policies, in which case it gets reported. If it is a sincere opinion, however much it stings, it does not get deleted: it gets answered. A good reply to criticism convinces more than five stars with no text.
How long does verification take?
It depends on the method Google offers you, which is not the same for every business or at every moment. We tell you which one applies and how long that one usually takes, without promising deadlines that are not ours to give.
I have no premises open to the public. Can I still have a profile?
Yes. Google distinguishes between businesses with premises and businesses that travel to the customer; in the second case you declare the area you cover instead of an address people visit.
Does the profile replace the website?
No. The profile finds you and the website explains you. Google controls the profile and can change its shape tomorrow; the website is yours. They work together.
