Clinics and healthcare

The profile that decides whether they call you.

Hours, specialties, photos of the practice and opinions. It is the first thing somebody sees when they search for your specialty near home.

A clinic’s Google profile is created, verified and maintained with the category of its actual specialty, the consulting hours, photos of the centre and the reviews attended to, keeping what the profile says and what the website says in agreement.

Last reviewed:

Before opening your site, they have compared three profiles

The typical search is «dentist» or «physiotherapist» plus the name of the area, made from a phone and in some haste. What appears is three profiles with their distance, their hours, their score and their photos. Most calls start there, without going through any website.

The category is your specialty, not «clinic»

Google decides who to show according to how well the profile matches what was searched, and there the category rules. «Dental clinic» and «orthodontist» do not compete in the same searches; «physiotherapist» and «physiotherapy clinic» do not behave the same either. The primary one defines what you are, and the secondary ones pick up what you also do without blurring you.

Google’s guidelines also require the name to be the real one, with no keywords tacked on the end. It is tempting and it works out expensive.

Real hours, August included

A practice that closes for three weeks in summer and does not say so on its profile generates missed calls and the odd annoyed patient at the door. Special hours get scheduled in advance, and that is part of the maintenance: you tell us once and it goes on the profile and the website.

Photos of the centre, not stock images

In healthcare a photo is there to help people recognise the place and to reassure: the front door, the waiting room, the treatment room, the team. Everybody recognises stock photos of perfect teeth, and they do not help anyone choose you.

The same thing, explained in general: Google profile

What we do about it

Part of the maintenance: you never have to ask, and it is never billed apart.

  • Creating or claiming the profile If somebody who has left created it, we recover it.
  • Your specialty as the category The right primary one and the secondary ones that help.
  • Hours and closures scheduled The summer ones and the bank holidays too.
  • Real photos of the centre Front, waiting room and treatment room, at the size Google shows.
  • Appointment requests from the profile For whoever decides without opening the website.
  • Details matching the website Same name, same address and same phone.

And this you change with one sentence

You write what you want changed and we publish it.

We are closed from the 1st to the 21st of August

Set as special hours on the profile and announced on the site.

A new doctor has joined

Published in the site’s team page and added to the profile with her specialty.

Add that we now do invisible orthodontics

Service added to the profile and given its own page on the site.

Frequently asked questions

I have a profile but a former employee created it

Ownership can be claimed. It is the first thing we check, because without control of the profile nothing else can be done.

Can I put treatment prices on it?

You can, and it filters well, but they have to match what you say in consultation. An old price on Google is an awkward conversation in the chair.

Do I get several profiles if I have two practices?

Yes, one per centre with its own address. What you do not do is duplicate profiles for the same place to appear more often: that gets penalised.

What if a patient posts a photo I do not want?

It can be reported if it breaks the policies. And it is worth having good photos of your own, which are the ones Google shows first.

Where all this comes from

Every figure and every rule quoted above, linked to the official text.

Does your profile state your specialty or just «clinic»?

Look at it on a phone. That one word decides which searches you appear in and which you do not.
