Bars and restaurants

Orders, through the place they already write to you.

A button on the menu and on the site opens the conversation with the order already begun. No apps, no commission and nobody to train.

The restaurant’s WhatsApp button opens a conversation with the venue’s number and with the message already begun according to the page it was pressed from — the menu, the group page, the daily special — with no app in between and no commission per order.

A neighbourhood order does not need a platform

For the five portions the neighbour upstairs takes home, building a shop with a basket, a payment gateway and commission per order is using a sledgehammer on a nut. That customer wants to write four lines and come and pick it up. And they already have the app they want to write them in open.

The WhatsApp button covers exactly that: takeaway, large tables, the question of whether the kitchen is open at five. What it does not cover is delivery with a hundred orders an hour, and that is a different conversation.

The message already written, depending on where it came from

WhatsApp lets a conversation open with text already in place through its click to chat links. From the menu, the message starts talking about an order; from the group page, it starts by saying how many people and which day. You open your phone and already know what it is about without asking.

Hours that get stated

A WhatsApp button somewhere nobody answers until the next day is worse than no button. Next to the button go your hours, and for out of hours there is the form, which promises a reply and keeps that promise.

The number of whoever writes to you

It is personal data and it is there to deal with that order, not to build a broadcast list for Thursday’s offers. If you want to send promotions you have to ask separately and let people say no. On top of that, business accounts have their own rules in the WhatsApp Business messaging policy, and one of them is that you do not write first to somebody who has not written to you.

What we do about it

Part of the maintenance: you never have to ask, and it is never billed apart.

  • A button on the site and on the menu Where the question comes up, which is while looking at the dishes.
  • The message already begun Different on each page: an order, a large group or the daily special.
  • Your hours in plain sight So nobody expects an answer at two in the morning.
  • The venue’s number only A personal mobile never gets published unless you decide it.
  • An alternative for everyone else Phone and form visible, because not everyone writes.
  • A privacy note What you do with that number, said in two lines and where it belongs.

And this you change with one sentence

You write what you want changed and we publish it.

Put WhatsApp on the menu page too

Added, with the message opening on the subject of orders.

Change the number: the venue line answers now

Changed on the button, in the footer and on the Google profile.

Hide WhatsApp on Mondays, we are closed

Hidden on Mondays and back on Tuesday, with nothing for you to remember.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need WhatsApp Business?

Not compulsory, but it helps: it separates the venue number from your personal one and allows hours, quick replies and a catalogue. If you answer from your usual phone, you will end up wanting it.

Can I take payment for orders through it?

It is not a shop: it is for agreeing the order and the pickup time. Payment happens at the venue, as always, unless we build a real shop, which is another conversation.

Can I tell which page people wrote from?

Yes, because the message arrives already begun with a different opening depending on the page. It shows in the first line.

During service, who answers?

That is the right question, and it is worth answering before adding the button. If there is nobody free mid-service, we state the hours and leave the form for the rest.

Where all this comes from

Every figure and every rule quoted above, linked to the official text.

How many orders are lost for want of an easy way to place them?

The ones that feel like a bother. A well placed button turns them into conversations, and conversations into tables.
