Industrial companies
Every reference with its data sheet, always in the latest revision.
An engineer needs the data sheet to specify. If they have to ask for it, they ask the supplier who has it posted.
Each reference has its downloadable data sheet with a revision number and date, published in the latest version and accessible without registration, which is what an engineer needs in order to specify the product in a project.
Last reviewed:
The data sheet is what goes into the project
When an engineer specifies a component, what they attach to the project is the data sheet. If yours is not available, they specify the one from the competitor who does have it posted, and from then on the orders go there for years. That is why downloadable data sheets pay off so well in industry.
Without prior registration
Putting a form in front of the download looks like a good way to capture contacts, and in practice it drives away whoever is working under pressure. The engineer who came for the data sheet goes elsewhere and does not come back. Better that they download it, use your product and ask you for an offer afterwards.
Revision and date, always
A data sheet without a revision circulates for years and turns up in projects when it is no longer valid. Every document carries its revision number and date visibly, and when a new one is published the previous one stops being available or is marked as superseded. That is order, and in industry order reads as quality.
And in the right language
If you export, the data sheet in the customer’s language is what makes it possible to specify your product there. You do not need to translate the whole catalogue: the sheets for what you genuinely export, yes.

Frequently asked questions
Do I lose contacts by not requiring registration?
You lose form submissions, not customers. The engineer who downloads and specifies your product is worth more than an email captured by force.
What if the sheet contains sensitive information?
Then you publish a commercial sheet and provide the full technical one on request. What matters is that the first one exists.
How many sheets do I need?
The ones for what sells and gets specified. Starting with the twenty fastest-moving references already changes things.
Can PDFs be indexed?
Yes, search engines read them. That is why the file name and the content should include the reference.
