Building and renovation
A page per type of job, not a list.
Kitchens, bathrooms, full renovations, façades and accessibility get searched for separately. And each gets bought for different reasons.
Each type of renovation gets its own page with what it covers, the usual duration, an indicative price and the jobs already completed of that kind, because each type answers a different search and a different client.
Last reviewed:
A bathroom is not a full renovation
Somebody searching for «bathroom renovation» has a contained problem, a figure in mind and moderate urgency. Somebody searching for «full renovation» is about to buy a flat or move house, and their decision is ten times bigger. Putting them on the same page answers both of them badly.
What each page should say
- What that type of job covers and what usually stays outside it.
- How long it really takes, counting material lead times.
- An indicative price, with what pushes it up or down.
- How you work: whether the house can be lived in, how it gets protected, who cleans up.
- Two or three of your own jobs of that kind, with before and after.
Timescales, told as they are
Timescales are the first source of upset in this sector, and hardly ever out of bad faith: materials take time and surprises appear. A page saying «a kitchen is three to five weeks, and these are the three things that usually stretch it» produces far better prepared clients than one promising a fortnight.
And what you do not do
Saying you do not do new builds, or do not work beyond a radius, or do not take jobs under a certain size, does not cost you work: it saves you calls you were going to turn down anyway. And it signals that you know your trade.

Frequently asked questions
How many service pages do I need?
The ones for what you genuinely do and want more of. Four good ones pay better than ten half done.
Do indicative prices hurt me?
They filter, which is different. And they head off the awkward conversation on the first visit, where mornings get lost.
What if every job is different?
It is, which is why you talk about ranges and what moves them. Saying «it depends» and nothing else is the answer that makes clients call the next company.
Does it help with ranking?
It is exactly what is needed: each page answers a specific search made with intent to hire.
